Read at the John Natsoulas Gallery
September 1st at 8PM
The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to feature poets Nina Lindsay and Rosa Lane on Thursday, September 1st at 8 P.M. They will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.
Nina Lindsay is author of Because, the 36th book published by Sixteen Rivers Press, which was released on April 2, 2016. Lindsay’s first collection of poetry, Today’s Special Dish, was also published by Sixteen Rivers Press in 2007. Her work has appeared in Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, Poetry International, the Colorado Review, Fence, and Rattle, and has been awarded the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Prize. She lives in Oakland, CA, where she works for the Oakland Public Library.
Rosa Lane is author of Tiller North, winner of the 2014 Sixteen Rivers Press Poetry Submission Competition. Tiller North is a poetic memoir drawn from Lane’s background as a native of coastal Maine, with familial and ancestral roots steeped in lobster fishing. Author of the poetry chapbook Roots and Reckonings (Granite Press, East, 1980), Lane earned her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. Her work has won several awards and appeared in numerous journals, including Ploughshares, The Briar Cliff Review, Crab Orchard Review, New South, Poetry Now, and Verse Daily. After earning her second master’s and a PhD in Sustainable Architecture from UC Berkeley, Lane works now as an architect, dividing her time between coastal Maine and the San Francisco Bay Area.
An open mic will follow the readings by the featured poets. Please bring your poems, short stories, and songs. Participants will be asked to limit their performances to five minutes or two items, whichever is shorter. Poetry Night is hosted By Dr. Andy Jones, the poet laureate of Davis.
