On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Poetry Night will feature the poets Terry Moore and Anthony Xavier Jackson. We meet at 7 p.m. inside the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis, and we hope you can join us!
Our featured poet for our September 3 Poetry Night is Terry Moore.
Sacramento performance poet Terry Moore has featured with and opened for some of the world’s top entertainers. He is the ten-time winner of the Best Spoken Word Poet, as well as the winner of the Best Live Performer award, BMA Image award. He has appeared on the world-famous Showtime at the Apollo and BET and has opened for the Temptations, Maya Angelou, and Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire, as well as other renowned artists. Terry Moore is also a counselor, promoter, and dedicated husband and father.
Opening the evening of September 3 will be Anthony Xavier Jackson.
Author Anthony Xavier Jackson self published the book The Razor of Your Smile in 2025 and is the winner of Sacramento Poetry Week’s 2024 adult poetry contest for his poem “Fentanyl.” His work has been published by Wingless Dreamer, The Stardust Review, Poetry Society of New Hampshire, and Dipity Press, among others.
Anthony is also a self-taught musician who plays guitar, bass, and the drums. His latest album, Black Noise, is available on Bandcamp.
Anthony makes his living as a substance use disorder counselor, and runs a monthly open mic at the facility where he works.

Doors and open-mic signups open at around 6:30 p.m.; the first featured reader begins at 7 p.m.; open mic starts at 8 p.m. Open mic performers will be asked to limit what they share to two items or four minutes, whichever is shorter. The open mic list is typically full by 6:45 p.m. People who show up early to help set up chairs will always earn a spot on the open mic list. We expect performances from open mic favorites, including Davis poet laureate Mercedes Ibañez, Joe Bacchus, and Allegra Silberstein.
