Two Standout Authors, Elana K. Arnold and Mischa Kuczynski, will feature at Poetry Night at the Natsoulas Gallery in Davis on at 8 PM on September 19th!
The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to present the notable California authors Elana K. Arnold and Mischa Kuczynski. They will perform on Thursday, September 19that 8 P.M. at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.
Elana K. Arnold is the author of critically acclaimed and award-winning young adult novels and children’s books, including the Printz Honor winner Damsel and the National Book Award finalist What Girls Are Made Of. Several of her books are Junior Library Guild selections and have appeared on many best book lists, including the Amelia Bloomer Project, a catalog of feminist titles for young readers. Elana teaches in Hamline University’s MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program and lives in Southern California with her family and menagerie of pets. Like her sister, she is an alumna of the graduate creative writing program at UC Davis.
Mischa Kuczynski is a graduate of the UC Davis Creative Writing program. Her work has been published in The American Poetry Review, Gigantic, and Foursquare. She was a finalist for the Poetry Foundation’s Ruth Lilly Fellowship. She lives in Davis where she is loved by many.
This special event will take place on the third floor of the John Natsoulas Gallery.
Guests are invited to arrive to Poetry Night early (by 7:45) to sign up for a spot on the open mic that will follow the readings by our featured authors. Please bring your poems, short stories, monologues, and songs. Performers with instruments are especially welcomed. Participants will be asked to limit their performances to five minutes or two items, whichever is shorter. The Poetry Night Reading Series is hosted by Davis poet laureate emeritus Dr. Andy Jones, and is supported by court Pianist Jason Mak and their many regulars.
