Poets Anna Fenerty and Nick LeForce will read in Davis on June 21st!
The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to feature two notable poets: Anna Fenerty and Nick LeForce. They will perform on Thursday, June 21st at 8 P.M. at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1stStreet in Davis.
Anna Fenerty is a Colorado poet and writer who has called Davis home for the past two years. As a traveler, she has composed poems in India, France, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, she spent a year driving 40,000 miles solo in and around the United States National Park system. Fenerty has held an assortment of jobs, from fence painter in Philadelphia to shoe salesperson in Key West. Once enrolled as an anthropology major in Eckerd College in St. Petersburg FL, she moved to California to be a caregiver for her grandmother. With a background in theater, and a Davis Art Theater premier in Harold Pinter’s The Collectionearly this year, she actively participates in rich traditions in the arts in Davis. Anna Fenerty is honored to begin her poetry career at the John Natsoulas Gallery.
Nick LeForce integrates poetry into his work as a life-coach and as an international trainer in helping people overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. LeForce has published seven books of poetry: Heaven in Our Hearts, Endless Horizon, Divine Whispering, The Poetry of Life, The Work of Being Yourself, Falling Before Grace, and Bearing Witness. He has traveled and conducted courses in many countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Greece, Japan, Malaysia, and Mexico. Some of his work has been translated into Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. LeForce has been dazzled over the years with the power of language to shape our experience and mold the world in which we live.
Guests are invited to arrive to Poetry Night early (by 7:45) to sign up for a spot on the open mic that will follow the readings by our featured poets. Please bring your poems, short stories, monologues, and songs. Performers with instruments are especially welcomed. Participants will be asked to limit their performances to five minutes or two items, whichever is shorter. The Poetry Night Reading Series is hosted by Davis poet laureate Dr. Andy Jones, and is supported by Musical Director Timothy Nutter, and Dr. Andy’sgraduating interns.The after-party begins at 10 P.M. at de Vere’s Irish Pub.
