Clarence Major

Clarence Major’s many literary and artistic ventures have been widely recognized: he has won a National Council on the Arts Award, a Fulbright, a Western States Book Award, and two Pushcart Prizes (one for poetry, one for fiction). In 1999 he was nominated for the National Book Award. He has served as judge for The National Book Awards, the PEN-Faulkner Award, and twice for the National Endowment for The Arts. He has been an editor and associate editor of many important journals, including The Journal of Black Poetry, The American Book Review, and The American Poetry Review. Clarence Major has authored more than 25 books and edited several anthologies; his most recent book, Myself Painting: Poems, will be available for purchase at the event.
