July 3 — A Wide Open Mic at the Natsoulas Gallery in Davis

Dear Friends of Poetry,On July 3, the day before Independence Day, Poetry Night will offer a wide open mic. Attendees are invited to bring their poems, stories, and songs. We will meet at 7 PM inside the air-conditioned John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 1st Street, in Davis.

The open mic starts at 7 and will last until 9 PM, with a break at about 8 PM. Performers will be asked to limit their sharings to two items or four minutes whichever is shorter.

One recent post lists the almost 400 poets who have ever featured at the Poetry Night Reading Series. Another celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating poet Dyson Smith; in June Dyson’s honors thesis in poetry, Tomboy Ballet, won the Lois Ann Lattin Prize for UC Davis’s Best Honors Creative Writing Project.

Later in 2025, we will feature the poets Chris Erickson, Greg Miller, Diane Frank, Dane Cervine, Brad Buchanan, Julia Levine, and more.
