Acclaimed Poet Rebecca Foust
Reads at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis

The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome poet Rebecca Foust on Thursday, December 3rd at 8 P.M. She will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.
Rebecca Foust’s books All That Gorgeous Pitiless Song and God, Seed: Poetry & Art About the Natural World won the Many Mountains Moving Book Prize and the Foreword Review Book of the Year Award, both in 2010. Her chapbooks Mom’s Canoe and Dark Card won the Robert Phillips Chapbook Poetry Prize in consecutive years, 2008 and 2009.
About Foust’s latest book, Paradise Drive, Molly Peacock has said this: “In Rebecca Foust’s splendid book-length sonnet sequence, Paradise Drive, we come upon a Pilgrim contemplating the deadly sins while hiding out in the bathrooms at some of Marin County, California’s swankiest parties. Foust drives her Keatsian sensibility straight into the 21st century of terrorism and autism, divorce and yoga, soldiers and syringes, booze and valet parking, determined to prove that truth makes beauty.”
Foust is the 2014 Dartmouth Poet in Residence at the Frost Place and recipient of a MacDowell Colony residence award. Her work appears widely in journals including The Hudson Review, North American Review, Massachusetts Review, Notre Dame Review, Sewanee Review, Smartish Pace, Woman’s Review of Books, Zyzzyva, and others, and has been featured on Poetry Daily, Verse Daily and in The South Carolina Review.
In addition to her writing, Foust teaches, organizes poetry events, reads for the Northern California Book Award, serves on the Board of the Marin Poetry Center, and works as an Assistant Editor in fiction for Narrative Magazine.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, hosted and produced by Davis Poet Laureate Dr. Andy Jones, occurs on the first and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery.
