Poetry Reading on June 5th at the John Natsoulas Gallery: D.R. Wagner
On Thursday, June 5th, at 8 PM at the John Natsoulas Gallery (521 First Street, Davis), the Poetry Night Reading Series is pleased to welcome the multi-talented D.R. Wagner.
Musician, poet, and visual artist, D.R.Wagner is a longtime lecturer in the Department of Design at U.C. Davis. Wagner has published over twenty books of poetry and letters, has featured in over thirty solo exhibitions (as well as over one-hundred group shows), and has lectured at over twenty universities. Over the years, D.R. Wagner has served such prestigious posts as special Consultant to the California Art Council in Technical Services, Director of the California State Art in Public Buildings Program for Office of the State Architect, Director of the State of California Housing and Community Development Art Gallery, and Artist in Residence: State of Nevada. D.R. Wagner is the recipient of such awards as the Fibers West Award and an award for Traditional Technique at the International Textile Competition (1987, Kyoto). D.R. Wagner is a founding member of the band R. Spoon, with whom he is currently recording a CD of original, vocal music. He is also the founder and original director of the Open Ring Galleries, a not-for-profit corporation for the arts in Sacramento.
The Open Mic will begin around 9 PM, and the after-party will begin around 10 PM. You are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic List.
The Poetry Night Reading Series—coordinated and hosted by Dr. Andy Jones, produced by Lane Berger, and with the creative assistance of Carly Voris— takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month. Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery is an entirely volunteer-run affair.
