On Thursday, March 20th, at 8 PM at the John Natsoulas Gallery (521 First Street, Davis), the Poetry Night Reading Series is pleased to welcome the widely published poets Connie Post and Roy Mash.
Winner of the 2009 Caesura Poetry Contest and the 2009 Dirty Napkin Cover Prize, Connie Post was the first Poet Laureate of Livermore. Post is the author of Floodwater (2014)and four poetry chapbooks, including And When the Sun Drops which received the Aurorean Editors Chapbook Choice Award for Fall 2012. Connie Post’s poems have been featured in countless journals as well as the anthologies First Water Best of Pirene’s Fountain (2013), A Bird As Black as the Sun (2012), Marin Poetry Center Anthology (2010 and 2012), When the Muse Calls (2010), and the Marin Poetry Center Anthology (2008).
Roy Mash is an essayist, poet, and artist, whose poems have been featured in more than twenty journals including the Agni, Atlanta Review, Barrow Street, Nimrod, Passages North, Poetry East, Rhino, and River Styx. Holding degrees in English, Philosophy, and Computer Science, Roy Mash is the author of the book Buyers’ Remorse, which came out in 2014. San Diego Poet Laureate Steve Kowit calls Buyers’ Remorse “deliciously engaging and clever.”
The Open Mic will begin around 9 PM, and the after-party will begin around 10 PM. You are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic List.
The Poetry Night Reading Series, coordinated and hosted by Andy Jones, and produced by Lane Berger, takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month.
Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery is an entirely volunteer-run affair. If you would like to meet some of the volunteers, feel free to come by early to help set up the chairs, or stay after the Open Mic to help us put them away. Enthusiasts are also encouraged to help publicize the Poetry Night Reading Series. Ask us how!
