On Thursday, February 6, at 8 PM at the John Natsoulas Gallery (521 1st Street in Davis), the Poetry Night Reading Series is pleased to welcome back Molly Fisk, the essayist, radio commentator, and Poet Laureate of radio station KVMR-FM in Nevada City. Molly Fisk graduated cum laude from Radcliff College/ Harvard University, first publishing Salt Water Poems, a letterpress chapbook, in 1994. Since then, Fisk has published three more books of poems and two collections of radio commentary. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, and the Marin Arts Council. Her many writing awards include the Dogwood Prize, the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Prize in Poetry, the National Writer’s Union Prize, and a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. She has also appeared in the PBS award-winning documentary The Loss of Nameless Things as well as at the TEDx San Francisco event “The Edge of What We Know.”
Join us as we celebrate Molly Fisk, her work, and the publication of her new book, Blow-Drying A Chicken: Observations from a Working Poet.
The Open Mic will begin around 9 PM and the after-party around 10 PM. You are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list.
The Poetry Night Reading Series, coordinated and hosted by Andy Jones, and produced by Lane Berger, takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month.
Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery is an entirely volunteer-run affair. If you would like to meet some of the volunteers, feel free to come by early to help set up the chairs, or stay after the Open Mic to help us put them away. Enthusiasts are also encouraged to help publicize the Poetry Night Reading Series. Ask us how!
