Eve West Bessier Reads at the John Natsoulas Gallery on August 2nd at 8PM

The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome Eve West Bessier on Thursday, August 2nd at 8 P.M. She will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.

Eve West Bessier is an accomplished poet and writer who has recently been chosen to serve as the Davis Poet Laureate (from 2012 until 2014). Born in the Netherlands and raised in the California Bay Area, she has been a resident of Davis for over twenty-five years. In addition to her work as a poet, Eve is a local music and drama teacher, a performing artist, and a life coach.

Bessier earned her B.A. in English from San Francisco State University and her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of California, Davis, where she worked as a researcher for a number of years. She received the 2000 Kathryn Hohlwein Award and took First Place for Poetry in the 2000 California Focus on Writers Contest. Her publications include: The North American Review, Kalliope, Lyric, Manzanita, Seeker, The Sacramento Anthology: One Hundred Poems, and Heart Flip. She has two chapbooks, Roots Music and Splash published by dPress. Her poem “Zoo You, Boogaloo” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2003.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, organized and hosted by Andy Jones and produced by Pia Baur, occurs on the first and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery in the Arts and Entertainment District known as Downtown Davis. The Poetry Night Reading Series is made possible by the support of the Cultural Action Committee of Davis.
