The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome poet David Rowe from New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday, September 15th at 8 P.M. He will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street.
A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, David Rowe was educated at Swarthmore College. His poems have appeared in the Cortland Review, the North American Review, Big Bridge, Dorado, Solid Quarter, Exquisite Corpse, YAWP, and in the anthology The Maple Leaf Rag. A poet accomplished on stage and on the page, David has read his poetry on the Moe Green Poetry Show and on radio station WWOZ, and at countless venues in the United States and abroad.
David helped represent New Orleans when Wave Books’ Poetry Bus Tour (2006) and S.A. Griffin’s Poetry Bomb Tour (2010) came to his hometown, he has served as poet-in-residence at Peter Anderson’s Beauty Shop, and currently he teaches poetry writing at the Covenant House, a shelter for homeless youths. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, organized and hosted by Dr. Andy Jones, occurs on the first and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery. Other Poetry Night performers this fall will include Sandra Gilbert, Joshua Clover, and Rae Gouirand.
