The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome poets Simmons Buntin and Dorine Jennette to the patio of Bistro 33 on Wednesday, July 6th at 8:30 P.M.
Simmons Buntin is the author of two books of poetry, Riverfall and Bloom, both published by Ireland’s Salmon Poetry. Riverfall was published in 2005, and Bloom, his new collection, was published in 2010 and is available now. He has published poetry and prose in a variety of publications, from Japan’s Kyoto Journal to the leading magazine of culture and place, Orion. He has won an Academy of American Poets Prize, Colorado Artist’s Fellowship for Poetry, and grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Tucson-Pima Arts Council. Buntin is also the founding editor of Terrain.org: A Journal of the Built & Natural Environments.
Dorine Jennette’s essays, poems, and reviews have appeared in journals such as Puerto del Sol, the Journal, Ninth Letter, Coconut, the Los Angeles Review, and the Georgia Review. Her work has also appeared in the anthology, Breathe: 101 Contemporary Odes, by C&R Press. Jennette’s most recent book, Urchin to Follow, was published in 2010 by The National Poetry Review Press. Among her many accomplishments, Jennette has won The National Poetry Review Book Prize, 2008, The Matt Clark Poetry Prize from New Delta Review, 2007, and The Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Memorial Poetry Prize for 2005.
Attendees to this special outdoor edition of Poetry Night are encouraged to arrive early at Bistro 33 to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, hosted by Andy Jones, occurs on the first Wednesday of the month at Bistro 33 at 8:30 P.M., and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 8 P.M. There is an open microphone segment after the main reading, at 9:30 at Bistro 33 and 9:00 at the John Natsoulas Gallery.
