The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome local writers Whitey and Mischa Erickson on Wednesday July 7th at 8 P.M. They will be performing at Bistro 33 at 226 F Street.
Chris “Whitey” Erickson is a graduate of the UC Davis Master’s in Creative Writing Program and author of the forthcoming book Henrytown. His work has appeared in Timothy McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Flatmancrooked’s Not about Vampires, online at benmarcus.com, and in The Hobo-Tramp Voice as “Boxcar Whitey.” According to Andy Jones, host of Poetry Night, “Whitey’s performance pieces create ecstatic hilarity from an irrepressible mix of small-town midwestern yarns and science-fiction hyperbole.”
Mischa Erickson is a graduate of the UC Davis Master’s in Creative Writing Program and holds a BFA from the University of Utah in Studio Art. A finalist for the 2009 Ruth Lily Poetry Fellowship, she has had her work featured in the American Poetry Review, Foursquare, and Gigantic. She has completed two books of poetry, Wait and Baby.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at Bistro 33 to secure a table, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, hosted by Andy Jones and produced by Brad Henderson, occurs on the first Wednesday of the month at Bistro 33, and third Thursday of the month at the John Natsoulas Gallery, both at 8 P.M., with an open microphone segment at 9 P.M.
