Carrie Rudzinski and April Ranger Read at the John Natsoulas Gallery on May 20th at 8 P.M.

The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome East Coast Performance Poets Carrie Rudzinski and April Ranger on Thursday, May 20th at 8 P.M. They will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street.

Carrie Rudzinski is a member of the Emerson College Slam Team, better known as “The /B/ Team.” In 2008 she was named “Best Female Poet” at the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational and “Best of The Rest” at College Nationals, before her team placed fourth in the nation at the 2009 College Nationals Finals Stage. Her poetry has been described at unapologetically honest and surreal, and her soulful performances have gained national attention. Her feature at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA, known widely for its slam poetry performances, was the highest-attended show that venue had ever seen, according to the Hampshire Slam Collective. She has recently released Barefoot Whale Riders, a CD of her poetry.

April Ranger also made it to the Finals Stage at College Nationals, as a member of the 2008 Cantab Team from Hampshire College. She was the Individual Champion at the 2009 NorthBeast Regional Slam, and is this year’s Individual World Poetry Slam Representative for the Hampshire Slam Collective. She has featured at the Boston Poetry Slam, the Emerson Poetry Project, and Hampshire’s own Cantab Lounge. The Hampshire Slam Collective says of her, “To call April Ranger a ‘rising star’ would be like calling the Space Shuttle a bottle rocket.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a table, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list.  The Poetry Night Reading Series, hosted by Andy Jones and produced by Brad Henderson, occurs on the first Wednesday of the month at Bistro 33, and third Thursday of the month at the John Natsoulas Gallery, both at 8 P.M., with an open microphone segment at 9 P.M.
