February 4th at 8PM

The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome poets Matthew Woodman and Marit MacArthur on Thursday, February 4th at 8 P.M. They will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.

Matthew Woodman teaches at California State University, Bakersfield; his poems have appeared in Fourteen Hills, Santa Clara Review, Hinchas de Poesia, Sierra Nevada Review, and Gold Man Review and are forthcoming in Axolotl and The California Journal of Poetics. When he is not teaching or writing, he can be found painting or tending to his garden of California native plants, whose most recent addition is a California buckeye (Aesculus californica) he’s attempting to grow from seed.

Marit MacArthur grew up in Colorado and has lived in California since 1998, aside from one stint in London and two in Lodz, Poland. She studied poetry and other subjects at Northwestern University, UC Davis, and Warren Wilson College. Her poems and translations from the Polish have lately appeared in Watershed Review, Jacket2, and Verse, and a few are forthcoming in Gigantic. She is an ACLS Digital Innovations Fellow at UC Davis, researching poetry performance and pitch-tracking.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Open Mic starts at 9 PM, and the after-party at about 10. The Poetry Night Reading Series, hosted and produced by Andy Jones, occurs on the first and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery.
