The Poetry Night Reading Series Presents Camille Norton at the John Natsoulas Gallery on March 6th

On Thursday, March 6th, at 8 PM at the John Natsoulas Gallery (521 1st Street, Davis), the Poetry Night Reading Series is pleased to welcome widely published poet Camille Norton.

Camille Norton is an award-winning poet and professor of English at the University of the Pacific. In 2004, Norton’s book Corruption won the National Poetry Series Award, and in 2010, her poem “The Prison Diary of Bartlett Yancey Malone” was selected for inclusion in The Best American Poetry 2010. In 1992, Norton co-edited Resurgent: New Writing by Women, an anthology of experimental writing, with Lou Robinson. Camille Norton’s poetry—for which she has been awarded residences at The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Ragdale Foundation, The Ucross Foundation, Hedgebrook, Saint Mary’s College, Maryland, and Red Cinder—has appeared in journals such as Field: Contemporary Poetry and Poetics, The Colorado Review, Feminist Studies, The Georgia Review, and The Greensboro Review. Camille Norton’s other honors and awards include The Grolier Prize in Poetry and a NEA fellowship at The MacDowell Colony.

The Open Mic will begin around 9 PM with a performance by The Spokes, the award-winning a cappella group that has been thrilling audiences throughout California (http://www.thedavisspokes.com/#!about/c1ypn). The after-party will begin around 10 PM. You are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic List.

The Poetry Night Reading Series, coordinated and hosted by Andy Jones, and produced by Lane Berger, takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month.
Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery is an entirely volunteer-run affair. If you would like to meet some of the volunteers, feel free to come by early to help set up the chairs, or stay after the Open Mic to help us put them away. Enthusiasts are also encouraged to help publicize the Poetry Night Reading Series. Ask us how!
