Having won several important awards for his poetry and criticism, Joshua Clover has also been a student favorite since he joined the UC Davis English Department in 2003. A participant in the Iowa Writer’s Workshop, Clover was awarded the Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets for his first book of poetry entitled, Madonna Anno Domini (1997). Clover’s second book of poetry, The Totality for Kids (2006), encompasses his pre-9/11 and post-9/11 poetry, suggesting how a single event could dramatically shift the content and tone of one’s art.

Clover’s work has been featured in three editions of Best American Poetry, and he has twice won the Pushcart Prize.
