Please join us at 8pm on Thursday, February 5th at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis for a Poetry Night Reading Series performance by Sacramento poet and playwright Indigo Moor.

Working across multiple genres, Indigo Moor has published poetry, fiction, and stage plays that have earned him many awards and a devoted local following. His poetry book The Stonecutter’s Window was awarded the Cave Canem Northwestern University Press Poetry Prize, and Tap-Root was included in Main Street Rag’s Editor’s Select Poetry Series. Other noteworthy accomplishments include finalist finishes for the T.S. Eliot Prize, Crab Orchard First Book Prize, Saturnalia First Book Award, Naomi Long Madgett Book Award, and WordWorks Prize. His short plays, Harvest, Shuffling, and The Red and Yellow Quartet all debuted at the 60 Million Plus Theatre’s Spring Playwright’s festival. His stageplay, Live! at the Excelsior was a finalist for the Images Theatre Playwright Award and is being made into a full-length film.

A graduate of the Stonecoast MFA program, Moor is a member of the Artist’s Residency Institute for Teaching Artists as well as an active musician and photographer. He has collaborated with the Artists Embassy International Dancing Poetry Festival, The Livermore Ekphrastic Project, as well as the Davis Jazz Arts Festival. In addition to his many accomplishments, Indigo provides workshops in cross-genre writing as well as mentoring and manuscript consultation.

The featured poet will perform starting at 8 PM. The open mic will begin at 9 PM, and the after-party at de Vere’s Irish Pub will start at 10 PM. You are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic List. Copies of Moor’s books will be available for sale at the Gallery.

The Poetry Night Reading Series takes place at the John Natsoulas Gallery on the first and third Thursday of every month. Poetry Night at the John Natsoulas Gallery is an entirely volunteer-run affair. We hope to see you there!
